Daily Devotional: Praises Today, Death Tomorrow | John 12:13 |

Have you ever been in a situation where you were with someone or like a group of people and needed to make a split decision vote like with your family. At Disney World, when you have to decide which ride to get the next express pass for, because you can only choose one every two hours or trying to figure out what's the latest time that new blockbuster movie will show at the cinema so that everybody in your friend group can make it on time. I mean these are high level. These are tough, quick decisions that need to be made.

The idea is that there's always that one friend or that one family member who can never make their mind up or they make the decision and then they change their mind in the same breath. I hope I'm not just talking about myself. I know you know this person they'll say “oh, I don't care, you choose.” And then you're like  “if I could've chose I would've chose, but I'm asking you to choose.” Then it turns into this like back and forth, and there you are ordering pizza for the third time this week.

This reminds me of Holy week, Palm Sunday in particular. Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, who'd never been ridden before. They packed the roads, they waved, they threw their palms leaves and they declared him as Hosanna Jesus Christ, the King of Israel. He was their savior. It was a parade of massive scale for that time. It's crazy how later that week, these same people would be yelling for his murder. A group of people who can't make up their minds. A group of people who are fair-weathered and flaky. They want Jesus on their terms.

How Bipolar is that. I mean, as I concentrated on it, I realized that I too, at times have wanted Jesus on my terms. I'd be like I love you and you're my savior, but if you do this, for me, you'll be the best best savior in the world. And if you don't  I'll be bothered, then I'll have to figure out how to do it myself, especially when you take too long or you don't answer the way I want you to. I know, and I love my savior and I want to serve him, but also I want to do things my way and I become my own savior or i try make him into the savior. I think he should be, and that's not how submission or praise for our king should work. We have to trust that he's entered our lives and our hearts to reign and rule in the best of times and the worst of times and submit ourselves to that very thought.
