Daily Devotional: His Friends

Daily Devotional: His Friends

We all have basic needs.

Love is essential and we all need friends.

The LORD spoke of His friendship with Abraham.

“But you, Israel, are My servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
The descendants of Abraham My friend (Isaiah 41:8 NKJV).”

That is so meaningful to me; Abraham was God’s friend.

“And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God (James 2:23 NKJV).”

Consider God’s friendship with Moses… “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend (Exodus 33:11a NKJV).”

Friendships are significant; they’re recorded in scriptures.

King Solomon needed a friend.

“Azariah the son of Nathan, over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan, a priest and the king’s friend (1 Kings 4:5 NKJV).”

Do you have friends, companions?

“Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion (1 Chronicles 27:33 NKJV).”

Jesus calls His followers friends.

Are we following Him?

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you (John 15:13-15 NKJV).”

How faithful is Jesus to His friends?

He died for them; for us.
