Daily Devotional: God Doesn't Move When You Struggle| He Moves When You Pray!

As compassionate and as loving as God is, he isn't bound to react to your struggles or your cries. He only reacts to your prayers. Many people feel God is all powerful and can cause anything to happen anytime. Whilst this may be true, it's also not true. God gave man power to have dominion on earth, God isn't sharing that power with him. He gave earth to man. So the only way to involve God in the activities of the earth is through prayer. God is limited to your prayers. So where you struggle, or lament or even cry, the best thing to do is pray! God moves when you pray!

Matthew 7:7 says: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Luke 11:19 says: And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
John 11:22 says: But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

I can go on and on and on to establish scriptures that talk about the need to ask, the need to pray. Infact, the scriptures says do not be anxious for anything but let your supplications through prayer be made known unto God. Prayer! The lyrics of a song that was sung while I was a child says: prayer is the key, prayer is the key, prayer is the master key, Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer, prayer is the master key. Prayer is a key that opens any door. A key that can give you access to many things. If Jesus who is God incarnate prayer, then you should pray too! Go on your knees and pray!

I'll share a quick story with you. When I was in my 2nd year in the university, I got caught for cooking in the room in my hostel which was against the hostel rules. No doubt that God isn't pleased with disobedience to constituted authority. But they were going to send me out of the hostel. My mum would either best me mercilessly with words or ask me to find somewhere to stay, where would I get money to rent a private hostel on campus? They had brought my letter of ejection. My roomates were trying to pacify me cause I would normally not cook in the room but I didn't like that my stuffs were missing. I remember standing up from my bed, picking my scarf and bible and going to pray. I had erred but crying wasn't going to solve my problem, complaining wouldn't do it either. So I went to Chapel and I began to pray, I asked God for mercy, I asked him for a miracle, I prayed and cried so much in the place of prayer. If not for me, for my parents. When I was done praying, i went back to my hostel, squeezed the letter and threw it into the bin and that's the last I ever heard of it. I was really sorry about what I did and I approached my Father in prayer. People were actually ejected from that hostel and they packed out. But prayer, prayer is the master key.

See, you have to remember that you're God's child. That he's your Father. This would help you in your approach towards him. You'll know that no good father watches his child dip his hands into the fire. No good Father prays that his child is sick just so the child can stop being restless. None! How much more God. Luke 11:10- 13 says something profound and although it qas referring to the gift of the holyspirit, it's something that would really teach us a great lesson.

10 KJV:For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 KJV:If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 KJV:Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 KJV:If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

God is your Father, not just your father, he's a good Father and he takes good care of his children. The sciptures say God can do exceeding abundantly above all you could ask or think. Do you think it's a mistake? Sometimes, when praying, we pity God. We're probably scared that if we get all his money, then God would run out of cash and what would be left for our children and great grand children? But God's word says he can do exceeding, this means surpassing, abundantly, meaning more than enough. If I were to rewrite this part of the scripture, it would mean God can do surpassingly more than enough of what you ask or think.
