Today we are going to be talking about what to do when life feels totally out of control. Have you ever felt that way before you are doing all the things that you know how to do? You're having a quiet time, you're praying you're. Reading your Bible, you're, going to church you're hanging out with friends that support you and encourage you, but life seems to be falling apart all around you. It may seem like everything you touch just crumbles and you're, asking the Lord, “ Lord How long? When are you going to bring breakthrough into my life? When are you going to answer all the prayers that I've been praying to You, asking you to bring relief and release and just praying for that breakthrough, but is still not happening. Here's a scripture we're going to read today. We're going to be reading Hebrews 10:35.
New American Standard Bible
35 Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive [a]what was promised.
So another way that you can translate that word confidence is boldness, so do not throw away your boldness, it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised for in just a very little while he who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith and if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him, but we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. What I want you to grab from this.
First is that we are not supposed to shrink back. We are not supposed to give up our boldness, we're not supposed to give up her confidence. If God has given you a promise, he is going to see it through to manifestation you can't give up, even though our flesh is screaming at us, abandon the ship abandon the faith. You've done everything you're supposed to do, but it's not going to work. That's not the Lord, that's the enemy and his job is to discourage you and to discredit what God has spoken over your life.
So today I want to give you three tips on how to stay the course and not throw away your confidence.
- Immerse yourself in Scripture. This is your lifeline. The Bible is your lifeline. You need to be in this every single day. You need to be opening it up. Praying Lord speak to me through your word today. Give me a morsel. Give me a strand of Hope to hang on to so that I can persevere one more day until you bring the breakthrough that I know you've promised over my life.
- Soak in prayer and God's presence. So what do I mean by soak in prayer? One of the things that I love is something called contemplative prayer, and that means to just go before the Lord and not bring any requests to him and not ask him for anything and not to spout off all the things that are on your heart. But just to simply sit in prayer and wait for him to speak to your heart. What does it look like when God speaks to your heart? Well, it he speaks to different people in different ways. Some people see a picture in their mind. Some people actually hear an audible voice. Some people get a knowing in their spirit of what God's talking, what he's saying to them. It's very unique to each person, and so you have to figure out how God speaks to you individually and uniquely but soaking. In that time, creating that window of time every day where you are just sitting still in front of him waiting to hear from him he's going to speak words over you that are going to help you hang on to your boldness and help. You hang on to your confidence and not give up till he brings the breakthrough.
- Just hold on. Don't give up. Hope Satan wants to do everything that he can to steal your joy to steal the promise to steal the breakthrough, but Jesus died on the cross so that he would be defeated once and for all, and so your job now is to trust in him and trust That he is going to be faithful to the promises that he's spoken over you, so I'm praying for you. I encourage you today. Go forward with boldness, keep your confidence.
