One of the things that really excites me about 1 Timithy in the Bible
is that Paul is writing a letter to Timothy and, in this letter, he's really given some instructions of what does it look like to have godly character right? What does godly character for a leader really look like, and another thing that I really like about this book, is that I also think that paul does a really good job of connecting these godly characteristics with the gospel message and really pointing out and showing us that Really it's the gospel that shapes our lives as we live out our faith in christ. The byproduct are these godly characteristics that we're going to be kind of exploring and looking at here in first timothy, so let's go ahead and dive in grab your bibles. We're going to pick up in 1st Timothy chapter 1
1 Timothy chapter 1 says this
Paul an apostle of Christ, Jesus by command of God, our savior and of christ, Jesus our hope to Timothy, my true child in the faith, grace mercy and peace from God, the father and Christ Jesus, our lord
Man, I really like the way this chapter starts off, because here Paul is kind of reinforcing his apostolic authority, and it says Paul an apostle of christ. Jesus by command of God. See Paul recognizes that his call into ministry is by God. He recognizes that God has called him into this ministry and really everything that Paul does in his life is because of that. It's because of his relationship with Jesus. Because of the call that God has on his life and I think for us as men, It's important for us to recognize the call that God has on our lives. Now you might be saying: hey hold up, you know, i'm not a pastor, i'm not a minister. I don't know if this really applies to me and I would tell you that it does, because you know when we receive Jesus as our lord and savior right, God calls us to be a witness. He calls us to live out our faith, and as we live out our faith in our jobs or in our community or even in our colleges. You know we have an opportunity to share our faith with people. People are going to see Christ in us. So that's my first encouragement to you and to myself today is that we would live out our faith because of the relationship we have with christ Jesus to so that we can bring glory and honor to his name and so that we can be a witness through Our lifestyle.
