Daily Devotional for Men:

So let's go ahead and pick up in verse three. It says this in verse three,

3 Just as I urged you [b]upon my departure for Macedonia, to remain on at Ephesus so that you would instruct certain people not to teach strange doctrines, 4 nor to [c]pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance [d]the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 5 But the goal of our [e]instruction is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from a sincere faith. 6 Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to fruitless discussion, 7 wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

So here, as we pick up in verse, three, what we see is we see that there's an issue right?  So there's an issue in Ephesus and the issue is that there's false doctrine being taught and so Paul has kind of charged timothy right? He's charged him to Get with these people who are teaching this false doctrine and tell them hey, listen, you are not to teach a different doctrine and we don't know all the details. But what we do know is that there's speculations right, there's speculations about the Word of God and, as you continue to read in this chapter, you'll see that it's tied kind of to the Old Testament. So they don't really have a clear understanding of the word. And this is what's leading to them to in teaching false doctrine. So for us, as men of God, it's so important for us to understand the word. It's important for us to be in the word reading it asking questions you know getting together with other men and having discussions about the Word so that we have a good understanding, so that whenever we are teaching or sharing the word of god, we're Teaching good doctrine. The next thing i would like to point out here is that in verse 5 . Verse 5 kind of stood out to me because paul is saying: hey, you need to bring correction, but there's a certain way that I want you to bring correction and he Shows us here in verse, 5. It says

5 But the goal of our [e]instruction is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from a sincere faith.

So hey listen, you're going to have to bring about correction, but this is how you're going to do it. You're going to do it from a pure heart, with a good conscience you're going to do it with a sincere faith, you're going to do it with love, and i think for us, as men, we've all been in positions where we have to bring about correction, and It's kind of tough for us as guys right, because, as men uh, we tend to let our emotions get involved. Whenever we bring about correction so sometimes in the workplace uh, you might have to bring correction to somebody, but you do it in a way where your emotions come out. You really don't honor God. Whenever you bring about that correction because you're doing it in a way that's very, very harsh; or maybe you're doing it in a way that's really not very professional. So hear Paul, saying to avoid all of that. You know we can do it with love. We can do it with the pure heart, with good conscience and sincere faith. Now i know as men when we think of this idea of maybe bringing correction in the workplace of love. I mean honestly, it sounds kind of girly right. I mean we're all guys here, we're talking, but listen um. If you think about Paul, when you think about who Paul was, i think if, if we had paul here in 2021, people might look at Paul and say man that dude is straight savage right. But Paul is saying to do this with love man. Paul used to do some incredible things: he challenged people.
