Daily Devotional: First Responders

Daily Devotional: First Responders

by PamFord Davis

The pandemic has given us a heightened appreciation for first responders. We’ve repeatedly heard stories about the work of those serving on the front line. God is calling His people to prayer. Are you a first responder?

Do we think of prayer as the last resort or our first response?

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).”

America needs God’s healing; we seek His blessing.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance (Psalm 33:12 KJV).”

Our country once held to Biblical standards and justice set by our founding fathers.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34 KJV).”

We must be prayer first responders. It’s easy to complain about our leaders; it takes commitment to prevail in prayer.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth (1Timothy 2:1-4 KJV).”
