Daily Devotional: Don't worry about what you've lost

by Shandha Woodard

Amaziah: But I have already paid 7,500 pounds of silver to the Northern Kingdom's troops. What should be done?  Follower of God: Don't worry about the money. It is nothing compared to what the Eternal has to give you- 2 Chronicles 25:9 The Voice.

If you're anything like me, you don't have money or time for that matter to waste. So, I can relate to Amaziah saying, hey, what about the money that I've already spent, especially since 7,500 pounds of silver equates to $2,507,400. I don't know about you, but $2,000,000 is a lot of money to give away.

When we've lost something that we've deemed truly valuable, we can often time dwell on the lost longer than we should. This dwelling coincidentally takes our focus off Christ. Please know that I'm not saying by any means that we should just quickly forget about that which was lost, but I am saying that we should be intentional about keeping our focus on Christ despite the loss. Philippians 4:7 tells us that if we allow Christ to be our focal point, His peace will quiet and bring rest to our hearts and minds, therefore making the sting of the loss grows smaller and smaller. I think that we could all agree that having the peace of Christ (which surpasses all understanding) in our lives outweighs any loss.

Just FYI, God, your God, will restore everything you lost-Deuteronomy 30:3 MSG
