Daily Devotional: Don't Give Up Because God Is Still In Control (Inspirational & Motivational )

I am so excited about what I’ll be discussing with you all today. It is probably a topic you have heard a couple of times but it’s not a topic you should not listen to consistently. Why you say? Because you are in the world and as long as you are in the world, the devil always throws darts at you in different ways, through different methods all to ensure that you lose focus and begin to doubt God. Can you guess the topic by now? Never give up on trusting God. The lyrics of a beautiful song says: God is able to do just what he says he will do, he is gonna fulfill every promise to you, don’t give up on God cause he won’t give up on you, He’s able!

A quick flash back to memory lane  when you were much younger, a toddler and your parent had to take the major decisions concerning your life. Has there ever been points when you honestly doubted the wisdom and sensibleness of the choices they made? Were there times you felt like you could have made the decision yourself and as usual, they probably say things like; “O Willy, would you trust me to handle it, I’m your mother and I would never let you down” You could have doubted them before but the mere statement made gives your heart a little more assurance of the possibility of her knowing what she is doing. And yeah? In most cases, those things we did not see when we were younger, they saw it and tried to help us through it. The very same way you chose to not give up on your parents despite that you did not understand the reason for many of their actions is the same way you as a believer must learn to trust God. I must have shared before the example of the three beautiful children who stay with me. Three siblings with different age range. The last one of them was about two – three years old and he loved me a lot. One day, during my free time, I was playing with them and I thought to try out a wrestling stunt that I had learned, I knew of cause that I was totally going to shield them from any harm. I carried the last child who by this time was so excited and I tried to turn him over, at this point I was expecting him to let out a cry and then I would inform him that he was going to be alright and nothing would happen to him. Surprisingly, he just held me tighter and kept smiling at me. I had to look into his eyes to be sure of what was happening and yeah, I was right, he was smiling, still holding me firmly but his face had the most beautiful expressions ever, it read something like: “I am quite scared because I do not know why you are turning me like this but i Know you, I know you can’t let me fall, no matter what you do, I know I’ll be alright as long as I hold you well”. That just melted my heart that this little dude trusts me even when he does not understand what I was doing. How amazing could that be? I immediately thought about my relationship with God and how I would have felt if I had God swerving me up and down in that manner without prior explanation. Could I have trusted him the way that little boy trusted me?

This event passed some very deep truths into my heart that I would love to share with you. Its okay for you as a child of God to not understand fully what God is doing at every point in your life. This is really what trust means. This is really how to check your heart to know whether you trust a person or not. If for instance I got married and after leaving with my spouse every day for a few years, someone walks up to me to tell me something untoward that my wife did, maybe I cannot explain what she would be doing at an ungodly hour and with whom she was meeting up with, I really do not need to have the full details, my first response would be, “O no, I know my wife, I have stayed with her for this long, there must be a reason or an explanation for this”. If God always has to tell you every single plan or move of his, how does he teach and help your heart to trust him? Trust says, even when I do not see it, you’re working, even when I do not see it, you are working, you never stop, you never stop working, just like the song writer put it. Trust is known in times of difficulty. I trust my closest friends and I know what they can do. But it’s amazing how we say we trust our friends and family yet, cannot seem to trust God as much. Could this mean we actually do not trust our friends and family as much as we think we do or we trust them because they seem more real to us? I would come back to this shortly.
