Daily Devotional: Differences Are Useful to God | 1 Corinthians 12:13 |

What's your favorite color. What's your favorite coffee. What's your favorite movie since the beginning of time. We've always been curious about favorites the “favorites question'' seeps into the way we view the whole world, and sometimes seeps into the way we think God views the world. We'd never dare ask “ hey God, who's, your favorite christian” or “what's your favorite denomination”, “who do you like the most” or “who gets to be closest to you?' Yet we often end up living that way unintentionally.

When God looks at us, he sees his adopted beloved children for followers of Jesus. Paul reminds us that we were all baptized by one spirit so as to form one body, regardless of our backgrounds.

Our differences make us useful to each other, but God also created us for solidarity. God designed the body of christ to have unity and diversity. There are some areas in life where it doesn't make sense to have a favorite.

A favorite key on a computer keyboard eliminates the usefulness of communication. A favorite note in a song kills the ability to create harmonic music when we stop creating insider and outsider walls or ranking people based on the value, we think they bring we're able to recognize and value our need for each other. Our differences have the opportunity to bind us together to make us a kind of music that will change the world, because that's how our heavenly father designed it.
