Daily Devotional: Counting Stars

Daily Devotional: Counting Stars

 The sky’s the limit!

Do I limit God?

Miracle Grow does wonders for plants; I believe in miracles and that prayer works wonders. So often, I settle for fair to middling days. Jesus offers the abundant life. Children think big; they’re not afraid to bring their requests to parents. With childlike faith they talk to God.

Will I settle for mediocre and mundane?

No dream is too big; no problem is beyond the Lord's power to solve. Abraham's dreams came true; God blessed him far beyond anything he anticipated.

The LORD gave his friend Abraham nightly reminders.

“But Abram said, ‘Lord God, what can You give me, since I am childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?’  Abram continued, ‘Look, You have given me no offspring, so a slave born in my house will be my heir.’

Now the word of the Lord came to him: ‘This one will not be your heir; instead, one who comes from your own body will be your heir.’ He took him outside and said, ‘Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.’ Then He said to him, ‘Your offspring will be that numerous.’

Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:2-6 HCSB).”

There's no limit; I believe.

Insomniacs fall asleep counting sheep; Abraham stayed awake counting stars.
