Love comes differently for everyone. And what works for one person might not work for someone else. In our society, it’s really harder for a woman to like a man. This is because, a man is supposed to approach a woman. Most women then have to bottle up their feelings because they don’t know the right way to channel it. Some even feel guilty for liking a man and this people are mostly Christians. In our video today, we will talk about ‘biblical things a woman should do when she likes a man’.
As a woman, especially a Christian woman, you should never feel bad about liking a man. It is very necessary to know this. We were created to relate with one another, and to get married to each other. You can’t reach the stage of marriage if you don’t love the person you’re getting married to. And love will start from a genuine liking of someone. Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo in one of his series said “when God created man, he was alone, and God put him in the garden to work. Genesis 2:15 says
‘The Lord God took man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it’.
And that’s why men are focused on working. But God created the woman and the first person she saw was the man. Genesis 2:20 – 25 says
‘So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, ’for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.’ This is the reason why women are so relational.”
We were created to have feelings but these feelings shouldn’t rule over us. As people who follow Christ, we know we can’t do things the way the World does. It is very important to keep this in mind. So as a woman, when you like a man, the first thing to do isn’t to approach him or tell your friends to hook you up. These are the things that should be done:
Pray. You know the beauty about God? He wants to hear everything. Instead of giving the latest to your friends, why don’t you give it to God instead? It’s not wrong to talk to friends but it is wrong to tell friends everything and tell God a few. Yes, God knows it all but He loves to be spoken to. He loves to be invited into every area of your life. Most people think God just cares about purpose and destiny. No. He cares about the little things that upset you. He cares about your struggles and weaknesses. You like that man, take it to God. Talk to Him about at least these three things.
About your feelings. Tell Him, Lord, I have feelings for your son. He makes me feel this way and that way. God really wants to know these things. Tell Him about your struggles. And ask Him to help you.
About His will. You need to pray to Him to superimpose your will. This is a very important prayer because you don’t know the future and the best path for you but He does. It is also important because you might want to chicken out especially if the situation doesn’t favor you. But God was the one who planted that desire for Him in you. Or it may be that the man will be the biggest mistake of your life if you both come together. This is why you need to pray for the will of God regarding this issue.
And for His instructions. Then ask God what you should do. Ask Him if you can proceed and how to proceed. Or if you should wait or totally give up on these feelings. It is important to ask God for the right step so you don’t miss your way.
Study the Word of God. It has always been said, when you want to talk to God, you pray but when you want Him to talk to you, you study His Word. Hebrews 1: 1–2 says
‘In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe.’
And we know that Jesus is the Word of God.
