Idris Elba wasn’t an overnight, Hollywood success. He had to work while pursuing his dream like most folks.
The “No Good Deed” actor worked the night shift at a former job at a Ford factory in England, he revealed to New York Times Magazine.
Elba believes his hard work before making it big is what makes him the dedicated and talented actor that his fans see today.
“I find that a lot of actors who are good and open to challenges have lived a full life,” he said. “When you walk into an audition, you have more to say for yourself because you come from the real world. It’s more enticing for directors, I think.”
His role in “No Good Deed” (opening in theaters this weekend) is definitely a contrast from his past parts. Elba is showing Hollywood his versatility as an actor — going from playing a legendary South African leader to a psychotic serial killer.
On being a versatile actor he said, “it just makes for more of a fun and interesting career.”
