“Welcome to the Kingdom” messages have been pouring to actress LisaRaye McCoy after she posted a brief video clip of her at-home baptism online.
Though some remember the 46-year-old as Diamond from the Player’s Club, the single mom has, for a while, been a Bible-carrying member of the Jesus club.
In early 2011, during an interview with Steve Harvey, McCoy publicized her spiritual journey and solicited prayer as she worked to grow in her Christian faith.
Now, three years later, the star has chosen to publicly share another milestone in celebration of her deepening walk with God. As a result, those who were unfamiliar with her previous faith conversion have been relating to the former “Single Ladies” star as a new convert.
The flood of attention follows McCoy’s publishing amateur footage of her pastor, Touré Roberts of One Church LA, sharing words of encouragement on her big day.
Dressed in a long white robe, she wept openly as Roberts clutched her hand and told her, “LisaRaye, I’m so excited when I see you. I see purpose and destiny. You’ve done crazy-amazing things at the church and in the church, and at the artist resource center blessing people.”
He ended with, “And I just think that God is getting ready to take it to a whole ‘nother level.”
