Yolanda-Adams-Erica-Campbell-Pf-378x414.jpegAs the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. At the 2013 BET Awards, Christian actress Meagan Good's cut-to-the-navel blue dress took the cake. At the 2012 BET Awards, Grammy-winning gospel singer Yolanda Adams' plunging neckline in a silky red gown drew criticism from her conservative Christian base.

Now the 52-year-old singer, known for occasional immodest apparel, is rushing to the defense of Grammy-nominated solo artist Erica Campbell, 41, who got hit with major backlash for rocking a hip-hugging white turtleneck dress in a recent promotional photo for an upcoming CD. Looks like the "saved and sexy" delegation is sticking together and fighting for their right to show off what their mama gave them.
"I'm tall. I'm thin, but I have hips. A gown may graze me in a place where somebody may find it offensive, but it's not sexual," Adams told Think Positive Magazine, differentiating between an outfit being clingy and sexy.
Even though getups like her aforementioned crimson cleavage-exposing frock certainly look tantalizing and tempting, she claimed, "That was not my intent. We can't walk around with sheets on and moomoos. Then, they'll talk about [that]."
While no one is asking gospel artist's to sport moomoos or loose-fitting nightgowns out in the public, many concerned women of faith are suggesting less suggestive clothing.
Let's just say an outfit that seems more appropriate for a night out at a club, rather than in a sanctuary, may distract audiences from the real focal point of the message Christian ministers sing and teach about.
"I know for a fact that Mary Mary--because I've known them for years--they don't try to be sexual," Adams insisted. "Some of the things that they want to wear, they're in style."
But is everything in style in good taste for a Christian woman? That's the question that must be answered.
