PSALMS OF WAR By Atiba Halisi

Psalms of War is Atiba Halisi’s latest project. Back in July, I did a review on his album, War is Coming, and now I introduce Psalms of War, which is the second part to Halisi’s trilogy project.

Right off the bat with the first track, Corey Red, the listener should realize that this is not one of those albums that’s going to be a feel good album. It’s not one you’re going to walk away saying it’s a hot album because of the beats or anything surface level. Psalms of Waris an album you have to receive both intellectually and spiritually. What I mean is that this album challenges both your faith as well as have the listener consider why we do what we do.

Psalms of War is a charge to those who claim to stand on the side of Christ, but it’s also a transparent view of how Halisi sees the things that are taking place around him. He challenges what’s considered the norm in society.

With a solid 16 tracks, there’s so much that could be said about this album. Each track opens your eyes to see things differently and creates a new outlook on our relationship not only with Christ but also our relationship and interaction with the world around us.

I encourage everyone to get your copy of this album. As always, support kingdom building music, support Atiba Halis, but above all else, push the music of Christ so that His light may shine even in what may seem like the darkest place.

Dark Vader By Dre Murray

After a quick Star Wars inspired intro, "Part 1" starts off this mixtape with Dre doing exactly what he does: rhyming methodically at a pace that fits his deep, smooth vocals. This track refers to his beginnings and "93 Coupe De Ville" follows in the same fashion. At this point, one can't help but notice that all of the tracks thus far are very short, hovering around the two-minute mark, and this trend holds for the rest of Dark Vader. Even though most tracks here are good, they are short indeed, but keep in mind this is a free-to-download mixtape. Props to Dre for giving out free tunes. For those who are unfamiliar with Dre Murray, the Collision Records representative hails from Houston Texas and has been a steady face in CHH for the last few years. From his solo albums, his part in W.L.A.K, and a recent collaboration album with Alex Faith, Dre is solidifying himself in the rap game today. Dark Vader is a free mixtape that serves as a short insight into Dre's personal journey.

The production on Dark Vader is stellar and some of my favorites would be "We Was Rich Til The Bill Came," where the beats are not only head-nodding, but also seem to infuse some orchestra sounds, and "TINGS" which is straight fire and a track that I will be bumping for a long time to come.
