Blake Leeper has idolized the two-sport legend ever since he was a kid.
Sprinter Blake Leeper has worn prosthetic legs since he was nine months old after being born with no legs below the knees. The American track athlete, who won silver and bronze at the 2012 Paralympic Games and is aiming to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team in 2016, stopped by the Arsenio show Monday to discuss his career ambitions and the people who have motivated him along the way.
One of Leeper's childhood heroes was Bo Jackson, specifically for how the the former Heisman winner continued to press on with his baseball career after receiving his own prosthetic hip due to a career-ending football injury suffered while playing for the Raiders. As Leeper explained during his scheduled guest spot, he drew inspiration from his idol during a brief meeting they had almost 20 years earlier.
Leeper reacted with just as much youthful enthusiasm in their second meeting, when Jackson surprised him by bringing out a set of running blades towards the end of the segment.
