1. STEP UP: Lead. Initiate. Be a man of action. Assume it is your job and your moment. Hate apathy. Reject passivity.

When David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army, the mighty men…”Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what is good in His sight.” – 2 Samuel 10:7,12

“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30 Read More Here

cm3_cd_150.jpgHuman Emergency is Crossmovement's third group release. It shows that they have experience in how Human Emergency is very well put together.

"The Light" and "Know Me," have bangin beats and are delivered very well. Especially on the song "The Light" where TRUT Hcomes to show that not only Crossmovement members have skills. "What Do You See?" is also a very captivating track. In which the Ambassador tells the story of the crusifixion of Christ, and have you reflect on your life to see if you are living to show appreciation for what Jesus did.

Because we live in a culture that increasingly leans toward commercialism, materialism, and secularism, it is not always easy to keep the soul nourished.

The challenge of these days, when times are not hospitable to spiritual growth, is how to nuture, feed, heal, restore, and renew the soul. Here are 21 practical suggestions for building a stronger spiritual life.

1. Identify blessings.
Too often we go through life oblivious to the good that comes flowing into our lives. Try this spiritual exercise for one week: At the end of the first day, identify a blessing that came to you from a family member. At the end of the second day, a blessing from a neighbor. Third day, from a friend. Fourth day, from a work colleague. Fifth day, from a stranger. Sixth day, from a child. On the seventh day, a blessing that came from an “enemy.” Read More Here

Swoope- Sonshine

“I got more drive than a Honda/I got more Rhimes than Shonda/Shootin’ more shots than Kobe Bryant versus four guys playin’ Contra”

I’ve always appreciated how Swoope cares about fluidity in his albums. It’s evident to me that he chooses to pull in elements from the next song at the end of the current song in order to make everything flow together.

On “Never Left” Natalie Lauren (fka Suzy Rock) brings in the theme right away. The beat is full of brass and a lot of synth layers. I feel like the beats on this project tell a story. Swoope treats the beats with as much intentionality as he does his flows and how his performances grow, the beats are a performance in themselves. Beatbreaker brought some heat on this track, and that switch up in the back half of this song is bonkers. The flow here is on point too.Read More Here

THINGS we found along the way

This frontispiece appeared in many early editions of Olaudah Equiano’s autobiographical narrative. It conveys both his African birth, referenced in the title, and the British citizenship he claimed as an adult. He wrote that after he was captured and placed aboard a slaver he would have given anything to change places with a “slave” in his own country.

Circumstances More Complex Than Most Report

Africans sold other Africans into slavery, a complicity that has shamed black people on both sides of the Atlantic.

But did Africans know that the slavery to which they were accustomed was not the slavery that the Europeans had in store?

Could the situation have been more complex?

Historian Marcus Redike of the University of Pittsburgh says it was.

“Slavery was relatively widespread in West Africa during the era of the Atlantic slave trade, but it was a fundamentally different institution than the chattel slavery of the plantations in the Americas,” Redike told Journal-isms Monday by email.

“Slavery could, in certain instances be both violent and deadly in West Africa, but in the main it was a milder institution: it was more familial; it was less exploitative (because it was less geared to production for the world market); and it was easier to escape.Read More Here

Did you know that all the hairstyles in the Black Panther film are natural? Hairstylist Camille Friend the visionary behind the fabulous hairdos rocked in Wakanda was really firm about keeping it natural and I for one are thankful for that. More than thankful, I am inspired and that is why I call for the #BlackPantherharstylechallenge calling for everyone to rock their #WakandaHairstyle!
