WHAT “WONDER WOMAN” TEACHES US ABOUT THEODICY
By Moses Kamuiru.
Celebration of the birth of our country
A study from debate.org showed that more than 50% of African Americans are NOT celebrating the fourth. We spoke with a few people that say; this one nation, still feels divided. Most Americans will be celebrating this day with family, food, and fun, while others say this day means so much more than to them than that. “And people celebrate the Fourth of July now as a holiday, per say holiday, enjoyment pleasure, drinking, fun, picnicking — and they may take a brief moment to pause and realize it’s the celebration of the birth of our country,” said Professor Robert L. Jones, Assistant History Professor at Paine College. Read More Here

Propaganda's Crooked is a face-melting, hot-pot masterpiece of an album that weaves comedy, history, self-reflection and the Gospel in an exotic stew of beats and sounds that are mixed just right. With fellow Humble Beast artist Beautiful Eulogy in the producer's booth, Crooked simmers with lyrical and musical energy, and immediately rises to the top of the list for album of the year. |

IS SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING GOOD?
It’s fine.
WOW, JUST FINE?
Just fine. It’s better than the two Amazing Spider-Man movies (because everything is better than the Amazing Spider-Man movies – yikes!) but as the broader sweep of the superhero genre goes it’s ultimately a small, pretty shallow, ultimately forgettable film without much in the way of substance or emotional investment – which it feels like it was “meant” to have but just… doesn’t.
HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE REST OF MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE?
It’s probably the most disposable-feeling, least-consequential MCU installment since Thor: The Dark World. That’s not to say it’s of the same quality (or lack thereof) as that film, but in terms of A.) How much it feels like it “matters” in the grand Marvel meta-narrative and B.) The degree to which you should feel obligated to rush out and see it right away… yeah, it’s about right there. In that respect I guess it’s similar to Ant-Man,though I found the human drama in Ant-Man much, much more involving than this. Read More Here

THINGS we found along the way
Before an audience of 500 last Friday, Compton’s millennial mayor Aja Brown, 35, was sworn into office to serve a second four-year at the city’s helm.
Brown first made history in 2013 when she became Compton’s youngest elected mayor at the age of 31. In June, she captured 62 percent of the vote securing her re-election.
After accepting her oath of office Mayor Brown told those gathered that it’s time to move forward.
“It’s time to move forward,” she said. “Onward. It’s time to finish the work. If it isn’t about progress, it’s petty. Put it aside.”
The Wonder Woman Sequel Will Reportedly Pit Diana Against the Soviets During the Cold War
After raking in both critical acclaim and dollars at the box office, DC has clearly decided if the latest addition to the DCEU ain’t broke, why fix it? According to The Wrap, as first reported by ScreenRant, the Wonder Woman sequel will also be a period piece, skipping ahead a few decades to 1980s, specifically during the Cold War. DC Entertainment Geoff Johns is reportedly developing a screenplay with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins which will pit Gal Gadot’s Amazon warrior princess Diana against the Soviet Union. Getting Chris Pine to reprise his role as Steve Trevor seems like the final piece of the successful superhero movie puzzle. Luckily, if you’ll remember, the WW franchise contains a number of quasi-immortal super beings who can seemingly bend space and time to their will, so they can probably swing at least a flashback for ol’ Steve. Maybe even a cameo. More »
