Christian leaders and entertainers are up in arms after hearing that African migrants in present day are being sold into slavery in Libya, Africa.

Last week, CNN published a report claiming that men are being sold to others to carry out farm work in Libya. The news network shared a video, reportedly filmed in August, that shows an auctioneer selling African migrants for only a few hundred bucks.

“Big strong boys,” the man is heard saying in the video. “400 … 700 … 800.”

CNN said the men were sold for just $400 each.

The final death toll in October’s massive truck bombing in Somalia’s capital is 512 people, according to the committee tasked with looking into the country’s worst-ever attack.

The final toll is a dramatic increase from previous estimates of more than 350 killed. The committee’s report, obtained by The Associated Press, says another 312 people were wounded in the Mogadishu bombing and 62 people remain missing.

Only a few attacks since the ones on Sept. 11, 2001 have killed as many people, according to the Global Terrorism Database at the University of Maryland.

Somalia’s government has blamed the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group for the Oct. 14 attack, which struck a crowded street. Security officials said the bomb weighed between 600 kilograms and 800 kilograms (1,300 pounds and 1,700 pounds) as the extremist group’s bomb-making capabilities grow.

Talented 10th is one of my favorite albums right now. For those, not knowing, I'm talking about the third studio album by  Sho Baraka. It's his first solo release since leaving Reach Records in 2011. The album title and concept was based off the essay of the same nameby W. E. B. Du Bois.Well, I was blessed with the opportunity to chop it up with Sho. We talked about everything from the album's concepts, to his favorite books, emcee's and albums. Peep the transcript

Malachi: Before we get into the new project I want to take it back. How did you start your group “Hello Revolution”?

Sho Baraka: Well I was adamant about not doing anymore solo albums because I wasn't really excited about it you know. I guess the place I was in as far as an artist, I wanted to work with other people and I was adamant about doing group projects. A lot of the work I had been doing when I left the label (Reach Records) was with my boy Jamie, who goes by the name Ali now. And the music we made after I left the label was so fresh I was like, how about we just turn this into a collaboration project instead of you just producing for me. So we ended up making a couple of songs. And the funny thing about it is lot of the songs that we have on this album were supposed to be “Hello Revolution” songs. So The Lord worked it out to where I got the hotness.( Laughs)

Time of Reckoning for Fans of Men Accused of Sexual Wrongdoing

800-3-17.jpeg

When it comes to fandom, it’s reckoning time for Matt Lauer, Garrison Keillor and scores of other men accused of sexual wrongdoing.

Hero celebrities have fallen before — Bill Cosby’s career ended after assault allegations in 2014 — but never in the rapid succession that has rocked so many worlds since revelations about Harvey Weinstein exploded in October. Accusers of politicians, actors, comedians, singers, producers, directors, other media powerhouses and assorted business moguls have taken the power and fans of the disgraced have largely stood with the wronged.

But for some, giving up heroes isn’t easy.

Savannah Guthrie, in breaking the news Wednesday on NBC’s “Today” show about Lauer’s firing over “inappropriate sexual behavior” with a colleague, appeared to be on the verge of tears.

It’s been a difficult start to Lonzo Ball’s long-awaited NBA career. The rookie point guard is averaging 8.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists, but he’s doing so while shooting an abysmal 30.9 percent from the field, and 24.5 percent from 3-point land.

Along the way, he’s also had to deal with plenty of extra attention — both on and off the court — because of his dad, LaVar Ball. On Wednesday night, Lonzo will get a big test when he squares off against two-time MVP Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

Ahead of the game, Curry offered his thoughts on the rookie point guard’s struggles, saying that he can “sort of relate” to what Lonzo is going through. Like Lonzo, Curry struggled as he began his NBA career, and also had the pressure of having a famous dad, Dell Curry, who played in the NBA for 16 seasons. Via ESPN:

So, while Curry said his father was active but low key in his development as a player, he also said he can “sort of relate” to what the Lakers rookie is going through right now.

President Donald Trump quickly responded to the firing of “Today” show host Matt Lauer on Wednesday, saying executives at NBC and Comcast should be “fired for putting out so much Fake News.”

Trump tweeted: “Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for ‘inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.’ But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News.”

He then called out the NBC News chairman, adding: “Check out Andy Lack’s past!” It was not immediately clear what that comment referred to. NBC declined to comment on Trump’s tweets.

Here's a log of the horrifying events unraveling in the North African country.

On November 14, CNN published an exclusive report detailing what was then a rumored slave auction taking place in Libya’s capital, Tripoli. Since that initial report, the news outlet has spoken with a number of officials confirming what have been called “organized gangs” and “smuggling rings” operating throughout the country.

As world leaders congregate and protesters demonstrate for freedom, here is a timeline of the horrifying events reportedly unraveling in Libya.

Star Wars and Star Trek unite in 'Trek Wars' trailer

A fan-made "Trek Wars" trailer creates an alternate universe where Star Wars and Star Trek coexist in harmony.

cable-tv.jpg

A new report hit inboxes today that makes some bold claims about the future of cable TV. The Diffusion Group (TDG) estimates that by 2030, the "traditional" pay TV market -- think cable and satellite TV -- will have shrunk by 26%, leaving only 60% of households subscribing to traditional pay TV.

That's undoubtedly a big drop from the 81% of households that get traditional pay TV today. But if analysts really think that cable and satellite will still make up two-thirds of the market for pay TV in 13 years' time, they've got another thing coming.
