CHICAGO (CBS) —A civil rights lawsuit was filed in federal court Tuesday against the City of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department, accusing officers of raiding the wrong home and pointing their guns at children during a child’s birthday party.
On Monday, CBS 2 Investigators first reported on this raid and the pending lawsuit, filed by Hofeld & Schaffner on behalf of a South Side family.
According to the lawsuit, 17 police officers – one holding a battering ram, another with a sledge hammer and the rest with weapons drawn – burst into the family’s home Feb. 10 while they were celebrating the birthday of their 4-year-old son, T.J.
A truly great sneaker eventually transcends its original purpose. Think of the Adidas Stan Smith, or the Vans Sk8-Hi—the former designed for tennis, the latter for skateboarding, both now simply canonical sneakers. The first shoe to attain this status was the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star, a state-of-the-art basketball model around the turn of last century and now a go-to for people of every demographic, most who wouldn’t know Chuck Taylor from Chuck Berry. Michael Jordan’s memory is much fresher, but as we get further and further from the original Air Jordan’s basketball roots, the shoe itself has become the Chuck Taylor of a new generation.
Well, people have probably been wondering where has Kevi Morse been for this past month?
After facing some life changing events such as expecting his own kid and the incarcerations of a few family members, Kevi felt the need to step back from everything and refocus. This past month, he has met with mentors who have advised him on how to strategically move forward, not only as an artist but as a man too.
Reversing Tomorrow. While you may not comprehend exactly what that title means, the message inside Brinson's ninth solo project is (and remains) abundantly clear: The creator of the universe loves us so much that He provides a miraculous plan of salvation through belief in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ, His one and only son.
The attractive 11-cut package (Have you seen that cover art?!?) finds the rapper/label owner flipping between modern and classic hip hop sounds to cover a variety of topics.
Reversing Tomorrowwill be available on all digital music platforms Friday, April 26.

Philadelphia native Eshon Burgundy has dropped his third album,The Passover On May 27, 2016. Following 2015’s Billboard chartingThe Fear of God, This 10 song set, showcases an energized and renewed Eshon, masterfully fusing incisive and reverent lyrics with dynamic production. The theme of this album, Eshon explains:
…is loosely inspired by "The Passover" of Exodus. The story is a powerful one about God delivering His chosen people, held captive by Pharaoh in Egypt, out of bondage. As they obeyed His commands, they were spared - passed over unharmed by the death angel when it arrived as the finale of God's 10 plagues. This account in the Bible is about liberation and as a man once confined to the four walls of a public housing community, I share the experience of an oppressed people.
We often talk about spiritual leadership only in the context of men: Husbands, boyfriends, fathers and sons are called to be “spiritual leaders,” and women are encouraged to look for men with these qualities. While it is absolutely true that we should unite ourselves to people who love God,we areallcalled to be spiritual leaders.Every Christian should be leading others spiritually through discipleship, evangelism and nonverbal witness—this is our testament to the world!
Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion.” – Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, German Philosopher
Passion is what happens when your activities and responsibilities align with your being, your true self. When this alignment takes place, you come alive! No barrier seems too high and no river too wide; you simply won’t accept setbacks as failures. Without passion, it’s pretty difficult to find success in what you do, and all of your actions will suffer for it.
A federal judge on Monday blocked an experimental Trump administration policy that requires asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases make their way through the U.S. immigration court system, a major blow to President Trump’s efforts to stem the surge of crossings at the southern border.
U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg in San Franciscoenjoined the Migrant Protection Protocols(MPP) policy days after outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen pledged to expand the program. The policy began in January at the San Ysidro port of entry in California but has been extended to the Calexico, Calif., entry and to the entry in El Paso, and Seeborg wrote that the approach would have been further extended if the court had not stepped in.
Several hundred migrants have been returned to Mexico under the program after seeking asylum at the border.
“Mr. Josiah Henson, a fugitive slave & the original of Mrs. B. Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin. He is now in his 88th year, & his sufferings, energy, patient endurance, & his anxiety for the good of his suffering brethren, are admirable… this most remarkable old man… who was during 41 years a slave, enduring great sufferings & cruelty & endowed with wonderful courage, energy & patience. He said he had had a very suffering tried life, but had, thanks to me, been able to reach a free country & live there.” —Queen Victoria’s diary, March 1877Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 1852 novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin was a smashing success. The gripping exposé of slavery sold 3,000 copies on its first day in print, and Frederick Douglass reported that 5,000 copies—the entire first print run—were purchased within four days. Within six weeks, The Boston Morning Post declared…See More
