Legendary Colette founder Sarah Andelman will curate Nike’s new women’s shop.
 Nike

Unlaced is Nike’s new “curated destination for female sneaker lovers.”

(In other words, it is a small store.)

It was announced at Paris Fashion Week in February and launched online in March. It’s hitting brick-and-mortar stores later this month, and this new round will be curated by Sarah Andelman — the famed co-founder of Paris’s Colette, the concept store (1997–2017, RIP) that arguably kicked off the modern, nonstop proliferation of brand collaborations, crossovers, and general hype.

It’s 2018, Nike is trying to include women in sneaker culture, and this is news. How’d we get here? Why does it matter? Has it actually been unclear whether women have feet?

In a February press release, Nike itself laid the problem out fairly bluntly: “As sneakers transcended sport and initiated street-style trends, collaboration became an integral component of sneaker culture, blossoming into a symbiotic relationship between brands and external creative communities. That community has been predominantly male.”

Sinema embraces a theatrical-like plot between Allen Swoope and Mya Desirae (My Desire) smothered in temptation while overshadowed by the daily battle men struggle with in lust as the starring role. Swoope’s third full release portrays a summer blockbuster tagged as one of the most prolific concept albums released since the likes of Sho Baraka’s Talented 10th. This project intertwines tracks seamlessly together like movie scenes building the relationship between Swoope and Mya similar to a twisted love story. Swoope ingeniously describes how desire and lust are masked behind individuals from the innocent to that of a horrific beast. Swoope emits a first person vantage point of how Christian males are subject to the terrors of lust in many forms and how one is to deal with such consequences if temptation succeeds. His imagination leads the listener through many highs and lows ending with a cinematic climax begging for an encore. Regardless if each of the 12-track production directly affects the struggles of the protagonist, one can close their eyes and become artistically led through themes we’ve all experienced at some point. The story unfolds.

Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote other half aren’t having a great day, that’s for sure.

The upcoming Venom movie has been receiving an overwhelmingly negative response on Twitter now that the social media embargo has been lifted. With the full embargo expiring tonight as well, the first proper reviews are starting to pour out online and just like those initial reactions, they’re pretty brutal.

Admittedly, there does seem to be a few things to like about the film – Tom Hardy’s performance, for one – but on the whole, it sounds like Venom is a dud and a rather shaky start to Sony’s plan for their own Marvel universe. Of course, the box office numbers will ultimately decide where things go from here, but if audiences listen to the critics, it doesn’t seem like Eddie Brock will be pulling in much cash this weekend.
