“I’m a for-real extrovert. When I’m out and about, you might hear me before you see me.” His explosive, energetic nature is how he first got the nickname Canon. “That’s what you’re gonna get when you hear my music.” He describes himself as bold, passionate, unafraid, and unapologetic. “When you think about a cannon, like a cannon, or even a gun… there is no cannon or gun that is apologetic about the trigger.”
Growing up Canon was a huge hip-hop fan. “That’s all I listened to. I loved hip-hop so much, I hated listening to Gospel music, and I grew up in the church.” He says he was born into the hip-hop culture which guided how he walked and talked, and still does. Canon was able to recite rap lyrics before he entered kindergarten and started writing his own raps at age eleven.
Once you move from the safely subjective position of a consumer to that of a hopefully fair reviewer, you inevitably start wondering about target groups. With the myriad of styles presented in our music today, you can't examine a rap record with just the average hip-hop fan in mind, because the average hip-hop fan became extinct a long time ago. Just like the record you review, you have to cater to a certain audience who expects to be informed about the latest addition to their genre.
Call me foolish, but I'm out to change that. So now I'm all the more feverishly thinking about how I can convince you to buy (that's right, I said 'buy') "Stop the Music" by New Breed. Giving it the highest rating possible would be too obvious, and besides, it doesn't deserve that. But it deserves to be heard by you. So what can I possibly say to make you go out and buy this record, especially since you might have to go a little out of your way to find it?
Carmelo Anthony has been backed to sign for Los Angeles Lakers by NBA expert Chris Sheridan.
However, a deal could reportedly only go through if the free agent was willing to be a bit-part player.
