Community Activist and Pastor, Michael Wortham, hosts ‘Trap Church’ at rapper 2 Chainz Trap House in Atlanta, Georgia. July 2nd, 2017. Atlanta, Georgia. Richard Ducree
One thing is for sure; pretty girls are not the only ones who like trap music — Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has made that perfectly clear.
What began as a marketing ploy for his latest project, “Pretty Girls like Trap Music,” has sparked a media frenzy and inspired conversations even as the campaign is over.
Michael Wortham, minister of young adults at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, thought the move – painting a modest house in the metro Atlanta area pink to resemble the album cover of his latest project and painting the words “TRAP” broadly across the front – was a dope marketing campaign.
“I can’t deny that. I haven’t seen anyone put a marketing plan together for an album like that,” he told NBC News, adding that as a fan of the genre, he appreciates not just the musicality but also its art form. Read More Here
NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz on Carmelo Anthony Trade, Derrick Rose and More
This summer is a great example as to why many chalk up the NBA as having the most entertaining offseason.
It feels like free agency started months ago. The Gordon Hayward saga headlined the show, yet the hits keep coming as big-name players like Carmelo Anthony face trade rumors and quality names such as Jonathan Simmons settle into new deals.
The drama continues over the weekend and well into next week, where the fate of Carmelo and several more notable free agents figures to come to an end. While a slight step down compared to the beginning of the market's opening, it'd be ill-advised to suggest the happenings over the next week aren't important.
Here's a look at the latest, ranging from trade rumblings to arguably the biggest name left on the open market. Read More Here
Lonzo Ball has donned Nike and Adidas brand shoes in recent summer league games with the Los Angeles Lakers, along with his own expensive ZO2 shoe. And according to dear old dad, LaVar Ball, doing so was a “statement” to those companies.
“It’s making a statement to the brands of what they could have had with an open mind,” the patriarch said, via text to Darren Rovell of ESPN. “The players are the brand ambassadors. The brand is nothing without the players.”

Tyler Perry, the writer, director, producer, playwright and actor, has signed a long-term deal with Viacom that could help the fortunes of that embattled media conglomerate.
Mr. Perry, best known for his “Madea” movie series, has agreed to produce 90 episodes annually of original drama and comedy series for BET and other Viacom networks. Viacom will also have exclusive distribution rights to Mr. Perry’s short-form video content, and its Paramount Pictures group will have “first-look” rights on his feature-film concepts.
That’s when reality hit. Lob City was over. Goodbyes needed to be said in his beloved Los Angeles. An ultracompetitive Paul’s thirst for winning led him to try something new in Houston by joining fellow NBA All-Star James Harden and the much-improved Rockets.
“The funniest person I had to tell about it was my daughter,” Paul told The Undefeated. “When I told her, she just looked at me and said, ‘Is Mommy coming?’ That’s the rawness of kids. My daughter is 4, and she don’t care where we go, she just wants her mommy there. Read More Here

Sareem Poems shares, "Terem and I started talking about working on a project two years ago. I first heard his beat production on Soundcloud. We quickly struck up a friendship and began working on songs. The beats started flowing and I started writing. He handled the music, I handled the subject matter. Terem worked around what I had in my mind. "

Obviously, you’d like both. But what if you could have just one? Which would you choose?
My fascination with this question intensifies every Fourth of July season as we commemorate the revolution that resulted in our nation’s independence from England and the creation of the world’s self-proclaimed great democracy
The glitch is that the United States was founded as a slaveholding nation, and the idea of a democracy constructed on the backs of enslaved Africans is an unresolved dilemma that has kept the United States in a spiritual vise grip to this day. Read More Here
The rumors of Carmelo Anthony joining the Rockets are heating up, and they’re not just coming from NBA reporters looking for offseason fodder. Houston’s own Nene posted an image Monday that showed the Knicks forward in a Rockets uniform, saying in a caption that he “can’t wait” to reunite with his former Nuggets teammate.

THINGS we found along the way
President Donald Trump is making history––but not the kind he promised on the campaign trail. As Trump’s sixth month in office approaches, a new poll found that he has the lowest presidential approval rating since 1947.
Only 36 percent of Americans give Trump a thumbs-up for his job in the White House, as his numbers slid by 6 percent since a similar survey that marked his 100th days in office. It’s no surprise, given the issues at the root of the president’s dwindling support.
Chief among those issues is the growing Russia scandal. The poll found that 63 percent of Americans disapprove of Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer to obtain political dirt on Hillary Clinton. Moreover, few people believe the president is progressing toward his promised legislative agenda. And under Trump, most Americans believe the United States is losing its position as a global leader. More and more Americans view him as incompetent on the global stage. Read more.
A Minneapolis officer is accused of shooting an Australian bride-to-be who called for help. The shooting comes at a time when police around the nation are under fire for escalating random encounters into deadly shootings.
But the complaints against police use of deadly deadly force are usually are lodged by people of color, but on Saturday, the victim, Justine Damond, 40, was a White woman who had studied to be a veterinarian in Sydney before moving to Minneapolis to be with her fiancé, writes The Washington Post.
Further, in the aftermath of the shooting death of Philando Castile, policy requires officers to wear a body camera. But the officers’ body cameras were not turn on before the shooting and the squad car camera did not capture the shooting, the report says.
“We all want to know more; I want to know more,” Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said at a news conference Sunday afternoon, The Post writes. “I call on the BCA … to share as much information as they can as quickly as they possibly can.”
