The Flesh Will Keep You Broke!

God says,
“He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.” (Proverbs 21:17).
The flesh will keep you broke!
Paul says,
“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth NO good thing.” (Romans 7:18).
And God says,
“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people [old covenant church] of God, than to enjoy the PLEASURES OF SIN [that is in his flesh] for a season; esteeming the reproach of Christ GREATER riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward [This means that God was going to pay him back for his sacrificial obedience to the faith].” (Hebrews 11:24-26).
One of the qualities of the Love of God is temperance (Gal. 5:23), which is a fancy word for discipline or self-control. I like, instead, to call temperance CHRIST or SPIRIT controlled. Flesh under authority is another term I like to use.
Pleasure in this life can be dangerous! The word “crucify” in the Greek means, “to subdue passions.”
