All you Sony Ericsson fans in the UK who have been looking for April 1 to dawn so that you can lay your hands on the Xperia Play are in for a jolt. The release of the Xperia Play on Vodafone UK was expected to happen tomorrow and now we hear the device will be delayed further owing to freight problems. However, the good side to that bad news is that not all vendors will be affected.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play UK Release Delayed; Freight Issues Said to be the Reason

Vodafone has already sent out messages to their customers saying that the device wouldn’t be available tomorrow as scheduled. So that means customers who had pre-ordered the device and were waiting to get their hands on the device tomorrow may have to wait a little longer.

Meanwhile, the company has also assured customers that the delay has nothing to do with software issues as claimed by O2 UK. As we said earlier, some dealers have been lucky enough to be out of harm and would start selling the phone on Friday itself.

Those who are heading for these dealer outlets would have known by now that the anticipated launch of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone will be kicked off with an extravagant party is set in London tonight.

As you know already, the Xperia Play was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. You may want to know more about the device by following thislink.  You can also watch DM’s hands on video of the device when it was shown at the MWC this year below.
