Pharrell Williams is apologizing for his Elle UK cover where he is photographed wearing a Native American feather headdress.

Members of the Native American community have criticized him of offending their culture because headdresses are worn only by chiefs and warriors, reports Huffington Post. Angry fans are expressing their anger over the sacred accessory via social media using the hashtag #NotHappy.

“I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry,” said in a statement.

Elle UK has not yet addressed the controversy.
