Back in November 2012, Nokia launched its latest flagship Windows Phone device, the Nokia Lumia 920. This device has been one of most popular handsets on the market and in this time has gained widespread critical acclaim and an impressive haul of awards. Naturally, this has led to a lot of speculation among smartphone enthusiasts regarding what Nokia has in store for 2013.

A device called the Nokia EOS has recently been the subject of many rumours, after it was revealed that this upcoming handset may sport and 41 megapixel camera, similar to that found on last year’s PureView 808 model. According to GSM Arena, new details regarding features of the Nokia EOS have now been revealed.

Apparently, Nokia has been testing two versions of the device, one with a quad-core chipset, and the other with a dual-core processor. Apparently, due to unsatisfactory battery performance, the quad-core variant was dropped, meaning that the Nokia EOS is likely to be launched with a dual-core processor. The device is also believed to sport 2000mAh battery capacity like the Nokia Lumia 920, along with a similar AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1280x 768, although the dimensions of the screen are currently unknown. Of course, the camera will be the standout feature of the Nokia EOS, which is described to be similar to the 41 megapixel sensor used on the PureView 808, but is likely to be upgraded. Other features of the Nokia EOS are believed to include a micro HDMI port and a microSD memory card slot.

Details regarding the launch of the Nokia EOS are yet to be confirmed, but GSM Arena states that in the US it is likely to be exclusive to network AT&T, with an international rollout of the device likely to occur 1 to 3 months following its US launch. We will be sure to keep you posted when we hear of any more information regarding features, pricing and availability of the Nokia EOS.
