The show follows the lives of several black women who used to belong to sororities. Critics of the show say it reinforces stereotypes and ignores the historical importance of sororities and fraternities in the civil rights movement.
An online petition calling for the canceling of the show, which had over 77,000 signatures as of Wednesday afternoon, states:
Stop the spread of ignorance and stereotyping of our beloved Black Greek letter organizations. Our founders amongst EVERY organization worked extremely hard to allow us to unite and flourish not only on college campuses, but as a people well beyond our college days.
Honda, Crayola, Hallmark and Carmex have also pulled advertising from the show.
