Spain announced that 655 people died from the virus between Wednesday and Thursday, taking the total number from 3,434 to 4,089 while infections rose by 8,578 from 47,610 Wednesday to 56,188 today. Meanwhile footage emerged from a hospital in Albacete, 85 miles west of Valencia, showing patients lining the corridors while waiting for beds after health services were left overwhelmed. People can also be seen laying on the floor after saying the virus left them too exhausted to stand. Spain is now the second worst-affected country with coronavirus, having surpassed China’s death toll Wednesday and now lags behind only Italy.
