HOW TO SHOW LOVE TO YOUR HUSBAND THROUGHOUT THE DAY

Being intentional about showing love to your husband does not have to be something else to add to your to-do list or another task to overwhelm you in all your existing busyness. Instead, it can be as simple as walking throughout a typical day for your husband and doing little things here and there to show him how much you love him.

1. Start the day off with a kiss and an “I love you!”

You don’t even have to get out of bed to do this! If you are in an exhausting season with a newborn and you can’t bare to get out of bed with your husband in the morning, that’s ok! You can still show him how much you love him through the simple act of a lingering kiss and a heart-felt “I love you!”.

2. Text him throughout the day.

Let your husband know he’s on your mind. From a morning “Hope you have a good day!” text to a flirty afternoon “I can’t wait ’til you get home” text (complete with winking emoji!), it doesn’t have to take long or be elaborate for you to tangibly show your husband you love him.

3. Seek your husband’s preferences regarding your list of priorities.

It can be so easy for us to think that we need to “do it all” around the house and preferably all before our husbands get home. This is a ridiculous notion, though. If you’re busy with work, the kids, errands, and more, and simply do not have the time to complete every household chore you set out to do before your man gets home, don’t try to exhaust yourself. It isn’t worth it!

Instead, ask your husband what tasks around the house really speak love to him when he sees that they have been done. Does it de-stress him to walk into a relatively clean and picked-up living room at the end of the work day? Then focus on that. Is a warm meal waiting for him what really lets him know you love him? Then dedicate time to that. Asking what his preferences actually are rather than thinking you have to do it all will not only save you some time and energy, but will also speak volumes to your husband of how much you love him!

4. Make his homecoming at the end of each day something special.

I don’t know about you, but I can easily fall into the trap of shouting “Hey, honey!” from across the room or down the hall when my husband gets home. How much better it would be for me to take just one quick second, stop what I’m doing, and greet my man at the door with open arms, a kiss, and the knowledge that I’m happy he’s home! I realize that offering your husband this kind of greeting is not feasible every single day in each and every season of your life. But if we can put this idea into practice as much as possible, the overarching picture our husbands will receive from us will still be one of love and devotion to them. And that’s the important thing.

5. Learn all you can about his likes and dislikes.

Become a student of your husband. This can be really fun! What is his favorite music? Maybe have that playing when he walks in the door. What are his favorite and least favorite foods? Take those into consideration when planning your weekly menu. Is your husband one who loves to jump right into family life and talking about his day the moment he walks in the door, or is he one who needs a bit of time to decompress and transition his thoughts? Be considerate of that.
