Hip-Hop Created For Worship

Our Music Was Created for Worship, Not Just for Evangelism

What’s up artists of God!

You guys made it to the Second Part in this long series! High Five for Jesus!

Anyway, in this message I want to cover the purpose of worship. This is the chief purpose for why you exist. I don’t care if you mess up on everything else in life, if you get this right I promise you that Jesus will remember you and you will NOT hear those dreadful words, “I NEVER knew you!”

The Scriptures says,

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou hast created ALL things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11).

My first mission statement use to mention this fact, when I use to (and I still do) deal with the music ministry, especially in the realm of hip-hop. So let me give you that old, or shall I say my personal mission statement, apart from my overall ministry with MIC Assembly Davidical Arts Network. I said,

I want to challenge all music, not just hip-hop to be positive role models in the Lord for their children’s sakes. God says,

“For by Jesus were all created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible [that includes hip hop] ALL WERE CREATED BY JESUS, AND FOR JESUS: And Jesus is before all, and by Jesus all things hold together. And Jesus is the Head of the body, the church: Jesus is the Beginning, the Firstborn from the dead; that in all [including music] Jesus might have first place in rank and order.” (Author’s paraphrase of Colossians 1:16-19).

You see, hip-hop belongs to Jesus anyway, cause when He comes back He’s going to ask you what did you do with His talents and gifts He gave you, and how you used Hip-Hop. To speak the devils lies, or to tell the world about Him and how much He loved us all enough to give us hip-hop to glorify Him.

What’s it going to be hip-hop?

That’s my personal mission statement! Now let me show you MIC Assembly Network Equipping Ministries old mission statement,

WORSHIP — It is our vision of glorifying God in all of thee above and in all that we might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing in Spirit and Truth, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power (the Spirit), unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, Who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has set us into the kingdom of His dear Son: in Christ we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of everyone created: Because IN Him is ALL CREATED, that in the spirit realm and in the physical realm, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created BY Christ, and FOR CHRIST: and He is before all, and by Him all things hold together. And Christ is the Head of the body, which is the Church of God: Jesus is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all Jesus might have first place in rank and order.

All I did was quote Colossians 1. That’s all I did. This is most of the chapter one written in our old mission statement.

Now let’s move to our new mission statement. It’s sharper and it’s more geared for our target audience or the people we are trying to reach.

OUR WORSHIP — It is our vision of glorifying God through Davidical, Prophetic, and Creative Arts in His holy house of worship, under the open skies of His power, for His mighty acts, according to His excellent greatness, with the sound of music, with the dance, with instruments of all kinds, that EVERY THING that hath breath, ALL MANKIND, ALL HUMANITY praise the LORD. – (King David, Psalms 150:1-6).
