Historically, in the music business, the fourth quarter is reserved for the power players and hard hitters. Alas, after a steady flow of releases throughout the year, the man known as Derek Jordan has one last clip to let off before he drops his Illect debut.
Once again teaming up with countryman, Rel McCoy, DIE-REK takes a hot minute to get "unpredictable". Using his verses to fire off on all cylinders about topics ranging from family to finances to faith, DIE-REK proves to be the missing link between variable and familiar. He expertly rides the self-produced groove which sounds like an alien transmission from the upside-down with poise and intent. Rel McCoy pops up on hook duties with a refrain that encapsulates affection and admiration. The uplifting tone pierces through the soul like a sunbeam shining at the peak of the afternoon hour.
