We’ve been hearing it — and saying it — for a long time, but it’s true. The world’s most well-known sci-fi villain is back! Darth Vader has been officially confirmed in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!
I first reported Darth Vader in Rogue One here on Geek.com, but this goes back even farther. Rumors first came up in September of last year. MakingStarWars.net first heard that the original sculptor who created Darth Vader’s helmet was back for Rogue One in November.
Brian Muir, the man that sculpted Darth Vader’s helmet for 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope has begun work on the anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Muir also worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, presumably on Darth Vader’s burnt up helmet. His continued involvement was a great first clue that the Darth Vader rumors could be true. The next details about Vader came when we heard a dream team had been assembled for the Dark Lord in Rogue One:
The coolest part is we’ve learned that James Earl Jones, the voice, the heart and soul of Darth Vader will return to speak Darth Vader’s lines in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Darth Vader we all know from the original Star Wars film is effectively back in look, voice, and spirit.
