At  the beginning of any other new year, when the clock strikes 12, many people will put into action what they call their “New year’s resolution.” These are goals people set for themselves that range anywhere from losing 10 lbs to saving money, but by March those goals fizzle and die; they become just a little more than talk. Why? Lack of discipline, and whether we want to admit it or not, lack of discipline is a sign of an immature mind. Just because there is physical growth, that does not necessarily mean there is mean and spiritual growth. We should be growing spiritually daily.  There are things we must be doing daily if that's going to happen

According to 1 Peter 2:1 there are 5 things we need to get rid of if we are going to grow.

5 Things Every Christian Must Put Aside

  1. All malice
  2. All guile ( deceit, Shady business)
  3. Hypocrisies
  4. Envies
  5. All evil speakings

The Greek word for “rid yourself”  in this scripture “means to put off one’s clothing, or to cleanse oneself of these things that defile.” Believers have to strip off…

  1. 1. Malice- The Word malice has two different meanings
  • First, we are talking about wickedness and or any type of evil
  • Second, we are talking about a deep, long-lasting hatred toward your brother or sister. Being bitter, wishing something bad would happen to them. It’s when you hold a grudge and you don’t have any good feelings for the other person - None.

A child of Yahweh can not have evil feelings or thoughts for his brother. In fact, how can you claim to love GOD, but you have hate for your brother? Sorry to tell you this fam but that not possible

Colossians 3:8 (NIV) But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

  1. Deceit -  This word basically means to “deceive and mislead people”. Being a shady person. It means to be two-faced. When a person wants something he tries to get it by using weapons of...
      • Flattery
      • False promises
      • False tales
      • Suggestive talk
      • Off colored suggestions
      • Enticing words

When a deceitful person wants something, he looks at the person’s weakness or ignorance, and that’s what he attracts. Keep a lookout for that type of person and make sure that he or she is not you!

  1. Hypocrisy. The word hypocrisy basically means one who pretends, puts on a show or acts like something he’s not. There was a time in history when this word came to mean acting, like in a play or movie. So when you are a hypocrite you are an actor, pretending to be something you are not. Like Denzel Washington in “Training Day”. But to be a better person for your friends, family, and community you have to drop the act and be who you really are.
  2. Envy- This word means to covet what someone else has, even so far as to steal it.
  • A person filled with envy is not happy with where he is in life.
  • Envy often leads to crime like theft or murder
  • Envy can lead to illness and stress
  • Envy can lead to depression

Envy or Covetousness is a desire or thought that lust or craves for something that belongs to someone else. You want what they got. You want the power he has. You want the wife he has. You want something that isn't yours and you want it so bad that it eats at your heart. And this can lead to other problems and sins.

  1. A Married man can covet another woman , or a single man can covet a married woman leading to adultery ( And if you get caught, maybe your death)
  2. A man can covet money or power that isn't his and will steal or kill to get it.

Yahweh would like for us to live comfortably and safely without the fear that we or our family would be harmed because someone wants what we have. In Romans 13:9  Yahweh teaches us that we are not to covet what our neighbors have, It’s evil and can destroy. Note a breakdown of Exodus 20:17 teaches us to never covet your neighbors…

  • House or person possessions
  • Wife or his girlfriend (yes that counts)
  • Employees
  • His property

  1. Slander – This means to lie, criticize, judge, backbite, gossip, or condemn. Making things up about people and spreading it. Or trying to destroy  someone's reputation. We see this a lot now thanks to the rise of social media (Ps.101:5The spirit of slander; is never in the humble and loving person. If we slander we are not full of humility and love. We  are full of pride and hate.

I have 5 reasons why people  slander

  • To boost  their own self-image and themselves look better than they are.
  • Because we love hearing and sharing in others faults and weaknesses. It  makes us feel good.
  • It makes us seem like we got it all together and it makes us look like our  lives are better off than others.
  • It helps us justify the bad things we have done in life.
  • Revenge

But Slender destroys 3 people The speaker, the person  spoken to and the person spoken of

Here Is A List Of 6 Things We Must Do Daily to Grow Daily!

  • Bible study: Acts 17:11- these were nobler than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readings of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things are so.

Read the Bible like any other book from beginning to end. Really get into it, break it down getting the writer's thoughts, the  meanings of the words, manners and customs, and the purpose of God had for each passage. But there will be times when you really need to read it unlike any other book because it’s not like any other book. It is inspired by Yah. It should be read slowly, prayerfully, daily, meditatively, searchingly, and obediently.

It’s important that we study Yah’s word daily. And if not daily, it should be often. Our belief is that the Bible is the inspired Word of Yah. It teaches us how to know him and how to live in this world. We should study the Bible Daily…

  1. To learn for ourselves what church doctrine is true and what is untrue
  2. So that we can see what we are doing wrong in life and how to fix it in a godly way
  3. So that we can see what is right and godly

Have you developed the habit of daily Bible study?

  1. 2. Prayer: 6:10- Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem he kneeled upon his knees three times a day and prayed.

While we are studying daily, we should be praying every day, throughout the day. Yahweh wants constant fellowship with you! So…

  • Talk to him and develop a relationship with him. Talk to him, and share with him
  • Learn how to make him happy
  • Ask him for the strength to fight daily temptations and the endurance to get through the day
  • Talk to him, about your problems and what you are going through in life

Always remember, proper prayer prevents poor performance!

Are you praying daily?

  1. Take Your Cross up: Lk. 9:3- and he said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

To “take up your cross” is something that has to take place in your thoughts. When thoughts that aren’t pleasing to God come to your mind during the day, you “put them to death” on an inner “cross.”

We have evil, ungodly thoughts all the time. Anyone who says they don’t is lying. It’s human nature. But we have to put those thoughts to death. Nail them to the cross, and do it daily!

Do you take up your cross daily?

  1. 4. Continue in one accord: Acts 2:46- and they, continuing, daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house…

One of Satan's main weapons is division. How do we win? How do we become successful as a church? We can't be divided. A house divided can not stand. ( Matthew 12:22). We have to move as one unit, one body in on accord. That is how we get things done and impact our community in a powerful way!

Acts 2:47- Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily

Understand this, If you don’t have the same vision, you’re not serving the same God! I used to love studying ants when I was younger. When aggressive ants like fire ants or army ants have to cross a body of water, they work as one unit to create a raft that can last for weeks. When several weaker things are united as one they become strong.

Are we daily on one Accord?

  • Teach: Lk. 19:47- and he taught daily in the temple,

Acts 5:52- and daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Jesus cursed the fig tree, for it was not producing fruit and an unhealthy tree will not produce fruit. While we are studying praying daily, we are receiving knowledge and wisdom. Oh you that that was all for you? If you are blessed with wisdom and knowledge and you don’t share it, you are stealing. That isn’t just for you. (Mt. 6:19-2; Lk 3:13; Ep. 4:28; 1 Tim 6:17-19; Eze 22:12. That is how we grow and become strong as a community. Learning and ten teaching what you learned.

Are you teaching daily?

  1. Exhort one another daily: Hebrews : 3:13- but exhort one another daily while it is called today lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

This means to encourage and give comfort to another. The Greek word translated "exhort"  (keep in mind, the New Testament was written in greek), parakleite is the word of strong encouragement. I know, I know. That's the opposite of what we see every day. Even in the church. But as Christians, we should be encouraging each other and cheering each other on. Not tearing each other down.

In his commentary The Message of Hebrews, Raymond Brown writes,

It is never fitting for believers to adopt the depressing pessimistic outlook of a godless world. With God, things can always be better, and Christians ought to be the first to say so. It is far from easy for many believers to live and witness effectively for Christ in contemporary society. Every Christian ought to be able to count on the cheering encouragement of his fellow believers. To make that possible, every member of the body of Christ should grasp opportunities every day to speak the uplifting word and do the supportive thing for his Christian partners in Christ. (p. 88)

Do you exhort your brothers and sisters daily?

Let me be 100 percent real with you. This one was hard to write. I’m a person that struggles with trusting our government in general. When it comes to government I think more like Malcolm X then Martin Luther King. I definitely have issues with our current president.

So what is a…
