Briggitte, you are an inspiration. You have always been, but through this trial with cancer, you have taken it to another level. Through 19 years of marriage and seven beautiful children, you have been the strength behind every victory. At my worst, where most would have and did give up on me, you never let me fail, never let me quit, and you pushed me to greatness. You are the greatest gift outside of Christ that God has ever given me.

So what happens when that gift that God gives you is being threatened by cancer? That question is easy to answer. You return the strength given to you. Never let her fail, never let her quit and push her to greatness. Well that’s what I thought I was doing, but the more I walk with you through this journey; the more I realize you are still making me better. Watching you look cancer in the face and tell it you would not be conquered is amazing. As you put your faith into action with no wavering, you pushed my faith to be stronger. You never allowed the fear of cancer to become rooted in you.

Instead, you told cancer about God and how great He is. You never allowed cancer to stop you from being a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend or a professional. You have taught us how to persevere, how to press through in every situation in our life. To be honest, we owe cancer a thank-you. Thank you for allowing us to see how good God is. Thank you for helping us to see the gift God has given us in you. Now we understand how special you are, how much you mean to us and how we should never take that for granted. When you hear the word “cancer,” you instantly think death, now we hear the word “cancer” and instantly think victory.

Briggitte, you are a champion, not just to us but to everyone you come in contact with. Your selflessness in helping others with cancer tap into their strength, even in your weakest moment, is mind-blowing. Never a moment of Why me? but always declaring, Why not me? Why can’t I be the one to defeat the disease and show the world it can be beat?
