What is Christian discipleship? It is a building up of a younger Christian who desires to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and walk according to the teachings in His Word. Discipleship helps both the tutor and disciple for edification, encouragement, accountability, prayer and fellowship in the love of Christ. The Bible talks about discipleship and how we as Christians are commanded by Jesus Christ himself to make disciples.



Acts 2:42 ESV /
And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
This verse talks about the importance of fellowship with other believers. Fellowship can include eating a meal together and praying for specific needs that each person has in life.

Luke 9:23 ESV /
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
This verse talks about the importance of each Christians to be willing to die for their faith in Christ to be called His disciple. Not all of us will be killed for the faith, but we may be rejected by people, even fellow Christians. We may be bruised with hurtful words, and even be physically beaten, but we must treasure Jesus Christ above all in order to be called His disciple.

John 15:1-5 ESV/
I Am the True Vine
15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
These verses tell us exactly how important Jesus Christ is to us because without Him we can do absolutely nothing!!!!!!!!! If we abide in Him and He and His Word abide in us He will produce the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in us!!!!!



2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV /
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Discipleship is impossible if it is not founded upon the Word of God!! The purposes of the Bible are explained in these verses.


Matthew 28:17-20 ESV/
And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Now that we have read Matthew 28:17-20, we are now commanded by Jesus Christ to go and make disciples and to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and to teach them to observe all that Jesus commanded the 12 disciples. We can be confident because Jesus Christ is with us until the end of the age.
