Our Bible tells us in Matthew, Chapter 21, Verse 22, " And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. We sometimes think we have the power to make things happen. Then we often find ourselves forgetting our gracious and loving Lord Jesus Christ whom we send our prayers, if it is His will , is the one that makes all things happen.

When I and my family were stationed with the Air Force in Athens, Greece my wife came down with polio in 1958. The polio vaccine was in Germany for over six months and had not been sent to the 7206 Support Group, our small organization at the Athens Airport. When I called back to the states and told my wife's mother, unbeknown to me, she contacted a family friend whom was a congressman. He in turn spoke to the Air Force Surgeon General and things really rolled as a plane was dispatched and shots were given everyone on Saturday, the following day.

In 1960, when we returned to the states, I was assigned to Mountain Home AF Base in Idaho, where my wife was to get physical therapy for her polio paralysis, When we visited the hospital, they said they had the equipment but no one qualified to perform the treatments. They told us to go to Boise, Idaho and see the American Red Cross asking for treatments. The ARC said the Air Force must be responsible for their people and we were turned down. The base said sorry, so my wife and I prayed for an answer to solve the problem.

At my work assignment, I asked the officer in charge if I could go to Base Personnel and ask for a transfer to Travis AFB, CA where a major hospital is located? He said he had been trying to get reassigned for some time and that I had work to do, so refused my request. The next day he said, "go ahead to personnel if you think it will help".

At Base Personnel I wrote my request to send SAC Headquarters in Omaha, Nebr. and mentioned what had happened in Greece and that the AF Surgeon General had been involved. Now this is the second error I believe has occurred and would like to be reassigned to Travis AFB, CA for my wife's treatments. The clerk said I hope you well, but many people are wanting to leave this base and also they will need an open position to place you in at Travis AFB.

A few days later, my supervising officer said that personnel wanted to see me and probably they will give you the bad news, I would not be transferred. I had Hope, Faith and Trust in my Lord as it says in the Bible, 1 Peter. 3:15, " But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear",

In Base Personnel , the lady asked whom I knew in SAC Headquarters as I was to leave immediately and report to Travis AFB, CA and was assigned to a new organization the Airborne Missile Maintenance Squadron as the Supply Sergeant . I told her my wife and I had been praying for an answer and our gracious and loving Lord Jesus Christ had answered our cry for help. We left Idaho the next day giving praise to our Lord all the way to California.

We pray you will be in the church of your choice this Sunday, worshiping our Lord that answers our prayers , if we believe , and try to walk beside Him and serve Him every day.

God Bless America
