If we look at the world of Adam (before the fall) and compare it to the fallen world since then up to today, we see a huge difference in human livelihood.
Adam was given the opportunity to eat of the fruit of the tree of life and live forever in blessed fellowship with his Creator, in whose image he was made. Instead, he partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and as a consequence stepped out of grace into disgrace. Since then man has been a disgrace to his Maker and spiritually separated from Him.
Today, fallen man still embraces the evil side of good and evil. In effect, he became a child of Satan and he remains so until he is born again into the Kingdom of God. Until then the nature of Satan steers his life. 6 000 years of history reveals the devastation wrought by man in the world as the human agent of Satan. Worldly life became a battlefield between good and evil.
The revenge factor an attribute of man's wicked nature has been responsible for untold suffering, misery, despair, conflict, war and death. Peace has never been fully attainable for man. Individually, man enjoys fleeting moments of joy and happiness amidst the overwhelming impact of the evil side of his nature.
Today man has what Adam never had and probably never would have had anyway should he not have disobeyed God. I'm referring the proliferation of products available to us under the banner of modern technology, our mode of transport, the various sport disciplines, the entertainment industry and the greed behind the attainment of wealth associated with all these things.
We are being kept busy, busy, busy. There is no time to even consider what God has to say to us, let alone believe any of it. And so we keep on destroying the earth as well as ourselves. Do we really for one moment think that God is going to sit back and do nothing about it? After the world population grew to 7 000 billion at the time of Noah, God did something about the wicked nature of man. Once again we stand at 7 000 billion people. God is ready to do something again. The number 7 is the number of completeness.
As in the time of Noah, it is time for a new beginning.
Humankind is forever seeking something to believe in. Strangely, it sidesteps the approach of God in favour of man-made religions, gurus and mystics. One young contestant in the American Idol competition stated the following. "American Idol gives us something to believe in." This is the mindset of our modern teenagers. They seek only the "things" in life and their parents encourage them to do so.
The world needs to know this; it is going to have a brand new start with only a tiny proportion of the present population in the starting blocks. And it will be a start on a landscape that spells "barren waste". Burned to the ground and destroyed will be all the buildings of commerce and industry that have had us captive to its wares and fares. Our new focus will be on one thing and one thing alone and that is the Glory of God.
Those of the tiny proportion will consist of people who have had to qualify for the privilege of entering the new world, but they will not be without supervision. This supervision will come in the form of rod and iron rule by one Jesus Christ and those at His side the ones who paid attention to the Word of God and became co-heirs of His Kingdom before God's latest stroke of judgement upon the earth.
So how close are we to that judgement?
The world has never experienced such a closely-sequenced pattern of weather-related disasters, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions as we have had over recent years, not to mention the overthrow of governments, disease pandemics, famine, worldwide unrest, wars and genocide. "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." (Matt. 24:6-8)
If this is but the beginning of sorrows, then it means these sorrows will not subside, but escalate into the beginning of the end.
The sound of the horses' hooves is loud and clear. Revelation 6 does not describe a far- distant future sequence of events.
The rider on the white horse has been galloping for a long time. He has succeeded in infiltrating the Church with false doctrines.
The rider on the red horse is now getting into full stride taking peace from the earth while viciously swinging his sword of war, death and destruction.
The black horse is snorting and edging forward. The rider can hardly restrain his mount. The rider's mission is to ration the world following the red horse's successful campaign in bringing the economy of the world to its knees as a consequence of its action.
The pale horse is standing by. The rider of this horse has a 3 year mission statement on his lips The Great Tribulation!
A new beginning is knocking loudly at the door of the world.
