Applejaxx "Back 2 The Future"

Applejaxx3Overview

On 09.09.09 ya boy Applejaxx dropped his Debut album “Back 2 The Future” on Fadacy Music. In a time when artist make music loaded with materialistic messages, the goal of this project to put the focus on what’s important, eternity. The prelude to “Back to the Future” is The “Databass Mixtape,” released about a year ago. Here is a brief story line. “In the system of life, there are glitches that try to stop our progression. In a world of technological advances, a body of believers fight to find their born identity in the battle against U.N.I.T.E. Applejaxx is a delegate chosen from above to follow the great commission given by the Most High. “Databass” is a next level project with fire you don’t find on other mixtapes. It’s the perfect prelude for a forward thinking, next level type album like “Back 2 The Future” Originally the album was supposed to be called “The Borne Identity” but Universal Pictures put an end to that real quick. This title was chosen to point to Apple’s identity in Christ as an artist. It was his identity in Christ and who he is. The Blog “Up & Up" did an interview with Applejaxx Where they asked him what the meaning of the title was:
"The title Back 2 The Future is focused primarily thinking of eternity with Christ. We should not focus on treasures on earth but trust in Christ. The album title was inspired by the need to sonically bring something fresh to the table. I was personally inspired by futuristic music, movies and timeless artistry. This album is the beginning of new projects from the Fadacy Music imprint".
It seems like artist today just pretty much follow trends. Whatever is popular, whatever sales,That's what is pretty much done by everyone, including Christian emcees. What happened to creativity and originality? Well Applejaxx has the answer, its right here and the future is now. In an article he wrote for Gospel Flava Magazine, Applejaxx talked about the lack of creativity in our music:
“Many people try to be carbon copies of what is current in pop or hip hop culture. Claiming to "strive for excellence" while imitating the very thing others do is not what we are about. We strive to step up the quality of our life and work so that our character, music, language, outlook, and ink spillage reflect Christ. We do this so we walk in total quality. We make trends and people follow us. With the mindset of expanding our inventive approach, we are pushed to rectify the dark clouds of deception shadowing over the world.”
Production Applejaxx2watercolorThe Production on this project is on a level that may not even exist yet. That should be expected since most of the beats were made my Mister “Out the Box” himself Tonex (T. Bizzy in the credits follow along). Other Co-Conspirators are Luke Witherspoon III and Dreamchord. If I had to pick a strong point for this album it would be the production. In An Interview with The Profess Interview Series Applejaxx talks about his creative inspiration and motivation of his style.
“I’m always into the futuristic sound. In the mainstream, the sound that Timberland and Missy had was the sound I was attracted to. Sonically we see that the industry has gotten to the point where we have east coast, down south… but I always liked stuff that’s different as an artist. So “Back to the Future” is taking it to a different level with the music. Sonically we wanted to bring the whole futuristic sound back"
Lyricism And Structure Applejaxx4charcolThe Lyrics are on point. Now days artist dumb their music down, but Apple has that fire that makes you think. Applejaxx gives you spit game that is from his mind and is not a copy of what everyone else is doing. Some of the lyrics may go over people’s heads but what’s wrong with depth. There are some guest appearances on the album but not so much that feels more like a compilation and less like a solo project. There’s just enough to keep the project fresh. An example of this is found on the knock’n “Applejaxx,” feat Danielle Harris and T. Bizzy were we find Applejaxx reintroducing himself for all those who may not know who he is. I loved listening to “Rain Before The Storm. This instrumental is the perfect intro the next track “Storm,” Which is probably the albums strongest track. Featuring Asheligh Nickole, this is a great mix of dynamic production and great story telling. Spiritual Value Applejaxx explains the concept of the album:
"Matthew 6:19‐21 states that we should not store up for ourselves treasures on earth. But store up treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Earth is not our final destination. It’s imperative to think of the future while living in Christ. Believers must be Christians in action. Fadacy Music’s primary objective is to provide Christ‐centered music. Music that edifies, uplift and can be used as a ministry tool. Back 2 The Future is one that encourages believers to be active Christians. There is a need to bring Christ to a generation that is not familiar with the traditional church setting. Invest in the things of the kingdom and not just a new car or a new house. So many things in this world, be it meetings or school or basketball can take your focus off Christ. So the whole point is to bring us back to our first love, because so many things can take your focus of f Christ."
Applejaxx1cartoonThere is a lot of spiritual depth on this album, but most of it might go over peoples heads. The album's title basically means we need to stop about the present so much and start thinking more about the hear after with Yahshua. According to Applejaxx:
The title Back 2 The Future is focused primarily thinking of eternity with Christ. We should not focus on treasures on earth but trust in Christ. The album title was inspired by the need to sonically bring something fresh to the table. I was personally inspired by futuristic music, movies and timeless artistry. This album is the beginning of new projects from the Fadacy Music imprint.
In his interview with The Profess Interview Series Applejaxx talks about the songs “Stop and Go” and “My Style”
Stop and Go is Speaking more along the lines of watch and pray. Basically that song is saying pray always. Praying without ceasing, in all things give thanks and in everything pray in supplication. No matter what’s going on in your life, get direction from the Lord by meditating on his Word. “My Style” is talking about being cool with GOD’s image, making his style yours and representing him,
