Can a single christian live without intimacy according to the word of God?

Hi Fam

I was browsing the internet and ran across this article. It sparked my interest because it is about a group of women that have chosen to live single unto the Lord. At first, I asked myself could these women really be living unto the Lord. Then I thought sure until they get married but as I ran more I discovered that they are not interested in husband. I wondered how could they survive without human touch. Human touch to me is the most precious of gifts that God has given the world.

I pondered all the tings that I had overheard while serving in different ministries, such as: being instructed to masterbate to keep from succumbing to a sinful relationship. Another ministry taught that any type of sexual gratification was indeed wrong.
Well give me your thoughts on the matter. Tell me what you think? Can a person honestly live without the touch of intimacy from now until the Lord calls them home? Here is the link to the article for your research.

I feel its wonderful when people make sacrifices for GOD. But just because something is positive and done with good intentions, does not mean it should be done. Sometime we do what we want to do and not what GOD has ordered us to to. You said these women had "chosen" to be single. But is that GOD's plan for them. That's how we mess things up. Doing what we not and not following GOD's divine plan for our lives. Now if GOD ordered these women to be single that's different.
Wow, you make a great point. I had not looked at their choice in that manner. I was only examining myself to see if I could ever make that type of commitment, even for the Lord. I resounded to accept that if God were to destined me to live unto Him he would give me the gift to be able not to desire the touch of a man.
They seem to believe that God was speaking to them thru scripture. I was at awe because almost every sinlge person I know desires the human touch. Many may not be ready to share their lives but all long for the touch of another human being.
This reminds me of a devotion I got from John Piper a couple of weeks ago http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/TasteAndSee/ByDate/2007/.... To briefly summarize it, he states that when it comes to being married vs. single one should not necessarily be viewed as superior to the other. It's all about what God's plan for us is in any particular season of life. As singles we can enjoy a more intimate relationship with Him and we are more available to be used throughout our Christian as well as our secular communities. Whether we provide a shoulder to cry on, babysitting for our married friends, or hitting the streets to fulfill the great commission. As married couples we have different responsibilities; namely to model the relationship that our Father has with the church and raise children up in His knowledge. Both conditions require a lot of dedication and hard work and neither are necessarily meant to be lifelong affairs.

Having said that, to be honest, I'm not sure about this article. I can't fathom making that type of decision. My first thought was. "Wow, something must be wrong with these women. Something must have happened to them in their childhood." I immediately felt ashamed of thinking like that afterwards. I have no way of knowing what God has called them to do, but I should think that if He has called these women to a single life that He would have given some type of mission or some form of life's work for the kingdom. I seriously doubt that He has called these women to seclude themselves in this type of community just for the sake of promoting a life of singleness. You can be single and living for the Lord without being part of a community of people just like you. Besides, God says He wants us to take His word out into the world (Mark 16:15). Evidence of God's word going out is lacking in this article, so personally I'd be leery about joining such a community. It almost sounds like a cult to me.
I must admit that I felt the same. As a child all I dreamed of was marriage and children. Well, now that I have experienced that dream; I can not concieve such extreme means.

However, for the most part they operate like the modern day church. We go in and we minister to each other, only a few believers venuture out in comparison to the number of those that hold up the pews.

Daily Bible Study: Principles of Kingdom Living #1 Authority Of The Word
LESSON 1 THE AUTHORITY OF THE WORD By Dr. George Watkins (1) What is the Bible? The Bible is the Word of God. The source of the Bible is God, and all scripture is given by the inspiration of God. Inspiration means that the Word was “God breathed”, or divinely created. God purposed that it be beneficial to us as a governing or guiding factor in our lives. Cave formations are slowly formed by water moving over the rock’s surface, depositing layers of minerals over a period of time. Although they have not taken as long to form as evolutionists claim,1 a casual observer of an active stalactite or stalagmite may only understand it to be nothing much more than a pointy, wet rock. However, if you could have the opportunity to observe the beginning yea

Sony developing Transformer Prime rival that runs Windows 8?
There appears to be three schools of thought when it comes to how you should interact with a tablet. The first, and most obvious, is touch-only. Then there are touch plus stylus offerings like the Samsung Galaxy Note and Asus Eee Pad MeMo. Finally, there are convertibles like the Asus Transformer Prime. It’s that last category that Sony appears to be eyeing up, though they’re going to go the Windo
